We get so caught
up in life, work and the pursuit of success
that sometimes we forget to stop and enjoy
the people we do it all for. Family is very
important to us here at Modern Web Studios because with
the stressful deadlines we have to meet
paired with the unexpected curve balls life
throws us - it's easy to get overwhelmed.
It's important to reserve time and energy to
spend on those we love. Business owners and
leaders have so much time required of them
but we need to take time everyday to enjoy
the family we work so hard for. Make that
phone call, write that letter, buy those
flowers, take that vacation, and most
importantly...spend the time. |

Remember, a
mistake is (if you are humble enough to
notice it)
a learning opportunity in disguise.
You have two options:
1. You can call it a loss.
2. You can call it a gain
and improve
yourself from it. |

If you own a
business, manage a group of people or manage
an office you are in a leadership position.
This is an important position that should be
taken very seriously. It can get very
difficult to deal with people and situations
at times and it can even seem as if you are
the only one that cares about the situation
or even the business. But take heart,
because that's why you are there. To keep it
together and get the job done. Your job is
to determine what each person's strengths
and weaknesses are then utilize them by
delegating and making the whole team a more
efficient, better working, well oiled
machine. Then when success occurs, always
remember the "Team" did it not an
individual. We fail together and we succeed
together!
When the construction of a huge skyscraper
has been completed and the massive structure
stands before you, who truly gets to say, "I
did that." ...the Architect?... the
Contractor?... the Framer?... the Crane
Operator?... the Ribbon Cutter?...
The answer is all of them, but none of them
alone.. |

Unfortunately,
there are people out there that have grown
their business by cheating people and lying
to them to get what they want, but in the
end they're only destroying good valuable
relationships that would've given them so
much more than just money and more business.
By keeping your word and doing what you say
you're going to do, you're setting a
standard for which people know you by.
They're not just seeing that you are honest
and reliable but you're showing them that it
is possible to get ahead in business and
still maintain an honesty that you (under
any circumstances) will ever compromise. |

We have a
responsibility to society to help those who
need us. Most people think that a business
is just there to make money, but that is not
true. A business is there to provide a
service or product to those in need of it.
When someone comes to you with a problem or
a need, your job is to do what you have been
taught or what you know best to fix the
problem or provide a solution to the
situation. Now, we do get paid to do this
because it has a value and we need to make
ends meet. The problem is, we can get too
focused on the payment and lose track of the
service we are providing. We encourage you
to stay on track and maintain a servant
heart as you help, attend to, or serve your
customers. The more you look at your job
this way, the easier it gets to "help" and
the more joy you take in doing it. (even
when you don't "feel like it") |

You may think
you don't have a voice in the world and that
you are just one person that could never
make a change or a difference. Wrong! There
are many people that feel the way you do
about certain issues and they have the same
"...but I am only one" mentality. Change
could and WOULD never take place if everyone
had that idea. You have to voice your
opinion, stand up and make it known that you
don't agree and you won't just roll over and
accept that things are the way they are.
Our problem today is we just get so involved
(even consumed by) our business and our work
that we miss very important opportunities to
change the very things that hinder our
success. Most people hate politics and all
that surrounds it, but it's a fact of life
here in the United States that we are
affected by the decisions our leaders make.
That's why we should not just be aware of
the issues but get INVOLVED in fighting for
our concerns and beliefs. We can assemble
together as business people and groups that
can make a difference in changing our world.
Don't just huff and puff about how irritated
you are about certain issues, get in there
and change them! |

To a New
Business Owner:
First of all, Congratulations! You have
started your new business adventure and
you're on your way to what we hope will be a
profitable business that you, your customers
and your family will be blessed by. It is
very important to know though that your new
business (like all businesses) are built
from the ground up. Like building a house,
it is crucial that your foundation is solid
and you plan the next steps carefully. So
don't get too caught up in the excitement of
it all and miss a very important step. You
have the opportunity right now to build your
found on the right things. You will need to
establish good credit and a solid name for
yourself and your company. People don't do
business with businesses, they do business
with "People". SO your people should have
the right kind of attitude. By this I mean
you need (as do all who work for/with you)
to have a "Servant Attitude" You have
learned what you know and you are able to do
what you can do because you have a purpose
in life. Your Purpose, no matter what kind
of business, is to serve and or provide. |
| |

It is important
to have goals. Especially realistic ones.
Set small goals for yourself, your company,
and for those that work for you. Be
realistic in your expectations but most
importantly be challenging. Growth in
business would never happen if we just
accept the status-quo. |
| |

Obviously money
is what causes us to come to work everyday
and that is an understandable driving force.
But don't let that become the only reason.
If the focus is only on money, we can lose
track of the more important things in
business...Relationships. If you are driven
by money it shows and if you are driven by
relationships that too will be obvious and
money will come through those relationships
because your heart is |

The road to success
is not straight.
There is a Detour called Failure...
A Loop called Confusion...
Speed Bumps called Friends...
Red Lights called Enemies...
Caution Lights called Family...
You will have flats called Jobs...
But, if you have a Spare called
Determination...
An Engine called Perseverance...
Insurance called Faith...
and a Driver called Jesus, you will make it
to
a Place called Success. |
